Back to School!

So finally Dylan headed back to school today!! And shock of shocks .. he was late!!! I am going to go ahead and blame the weather ... We walked and it was COLD!!!! all of the puddles are now ICE and yes I did fall and bust ass! Thankfully I had on so much padding (Coat, Ugs, Hat, Gloves ect...) and my mad ninja skills ..... It didn't hurt... ok only my pride. So in honor and appreciation of Dylan heading back to school - here is the picture of the day .....Thankfully I was saved from picking him up - Jay did that - With Jay leaving so soon he has to do all the out processing stuff like qualifying on his weapon.. (in the Air Force that is saying A LOT!!!) Needless to say he passed... He can hit a target... Now a moving target hmmmm..... When he came home with Dylan this is what greeted me at the door

Too cute! I was able to scrap today ... nothing encourages creativity like procrastination!! I entered the DigiScrap Addicts Scrapoff - So I had to scrap with the kits that they gave me. Don't get me wrong, they were very nice kits, I love Nikki and Aaron's but not what I normally scrap with - so very outside my box ....which is good!!! Here is what I came up with for Week One

Now off to pack more boxes - the daily countdown till we move out (to the TLF) - 22 Days and counting ......

Missing them already!

So I skiped a blog post yesterday! But the picture was of me so I am totally letting that one go. I am proud of myself - I took the picture and posted in a few forums, but not here!!! Only in the weekly recap - but I digress. I have had a really busy few days ... The kids were suposto fly out to Texas yesterday, but the plane left at 5:50 AM so..... Ya we missed it ... They did make it this morning - and here is the picture

Jacob was NOT happy about having his picture taken - "Mom why are you doing this? It's not like it's the 300th time we have gotten on a plane" - This was the other picture in the bunch.

He is right we do this all the time, I guess that is the nature of the military family, but it still gets me EVERY time - I balled like a baby on the drive home. I am just so glad that it is only for a few more weeks till I pack the house up and join them home.

We also took the Christmas Tree down...... Ok Jay and Dylan took the Christmas Tree down

And I scrapped!!!!!!

Now the kids are gone, I have to start packing... I promised them they would not have to come home to Christmas with boxes... Now just 2 1/2 weeks left till we move out of this crappy base housing!!!!! THANK GOD!!!!!!!!! Until tomorrow!!!!

Lost to the Dark Side

Another day - another picture. I don't know if I will be able to blog every picture that I take, but for now its working for me... Today is the 3rd - and because Dylan's birthday is the 3rd of July every 3rd will be a picture of Dylan.
This was actually a hard picture to get of him - Because the kids are leaving tomorrow, I tried to implement a NO electronics policy - Ya it didn't work - They all wanted (Jay included) to watch the new Family Guy -
Dylan wanted to keep watching the movie -

And he kept laughing the whole time -

We went to a play some game with friends last night and had the best time - After some Yatzee domination - the dice were clearly rigged - we played the best game

So when I implemented the no electronics rule - Jay and Emily went on a quest to find it - After 4 stores and no game they came home in defeat .... that's when I relented and lost them all.....

Can't compete with Seth Mcfarlane! Now there is talk of watching all the Star Wars episodes again - the originals ..... Wish me luck! Off to Amazon to order the game - by the way - VERY FUN!!!

365 Day 2!!!

Wow - 2 days in a row!! I think this is some sort of record! I should get a prize - at the very least I think I am going to reward myself with a trip to starbucks!!! Love that kind of incentive!!! Today we took the kids to the movies to see Sherlock Homes - LOVED it - Finally a movie with ...wait for it.... a PLOT!!!! Ya Avatar was great and all but geesh - my 6year old could of written it!
The picture is of Emily - on the way to the movie - believe it or not she was being a smart ass - she didn't want me to take her picture - Now she loves it! I'm looking at it and thinking HOLY CRAP thats my kid!!!! When did she grow up and get so dam beautiful?? No wonder her dad is turning gray already!!!!

Well day 2 down - only 363 more to go - Have a great one!!!

Happy New Year!!! or 365 Day 1!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR Everyone!!!!!!
We brought in the new year at Dan and Lisa's house with Krista and Chuck and sooo much fun!!! Dylan was there for the countdown! I can't believe he lasted that long, needless to say he is still crashed upstairs!!! I want to say a big thank you to Dan for the drum lesson, he is now sleeping with dreams of a Rock Star floating in his head (forget the chef thing - he loves banging on crap!)
Jacob and Emily were invited to their 1st party with friends so they bailed on Mom and Dad - Can't believe they passed us up for a house full of teens!! Wheres the love???
With the start of the new year also starts my 365 Project - so the 1st picture here is my official 1st picture of the new year. The rest are some random pics from last night/early this morning. I want to wish everyone a very happy new year, I truly hope this year brings you everything you desire!!! I am off to make the traditional Black Eyed Peas, Ham and Greens - Have a great day!!!

New Year ~ New Challenges

2010 is already gearing up to be an interesting year. Jay will be leaving us and I will be moving home to Texas. It was a difficult decision, as much of a fan of Virgina that I am (that is sarcasm dripping from my voice) I have made the BEST friends here and leaving them will be so difficult! With that said, my place is with my family, my mom, my sister and niece and my aunt and grandparents. I had started a graphic design program that I love and will be putting it on hold for a while so that I can help take care of Olivia. I will also be able to get everything together for our move overseas. I have to say that despite the fact that I will miss Jay more than anyone can imagine, I plan on spending the next year doing the things that I LOVE - Quilting, digi scrapping and cooking. I am going to convince my mom to take some cooking classes with me, quilt up a storm and start scrapping all these dam pictures that I take!
On that note - I am going to try a challenge that is fairly common in the digi scrap world - Project 365. This is where you take a picture a day. I however have no unrealistic expectations of my level of commitment and have already altered this to the Project 52. I will take a picture once a week and endeavor to take one more often, and I will use them on this blog. I will also resolve to blog at least once a week with these pictures and hopefully more often! So my commitment has been stated which i think is the first step - Wish me luck!!!!!

Trip to DC

Had a Great time on my trip to DC. We traveled up there on Friday night and stayed till Sunday. We shopped, went sightseeing and ate some great food!! I am so glad I don't live there, I would easily gain 1000 lbs. They have an entire bakery dedicated to cupcakes. They also have some pretty cool museums. We went to the American Indian Museum, the American History Museum and the National Zoo and the Highlight of our trip ~ IKEA!!!!! LOVE that place!!!!
We rode the Metro and took the Double Decker tour of DC at night.

I was a little skeptical at first but it was so worth it!! DC by night is amazing and even more beautiful.

DC is amazing. I love how eclectic it is. There is a little bit of everything there. Actual neighborhoods that have not been taken over by big box stores like Wal-mart. There is character and personality and so so so many little corner restaurants. I could so live there, (if we had a lot of money)
I went with my friend Linda who used to live there and I have to say I am so glad that I did. Not only becuase she was the BEST company, I think I was in a little bit of a quilting rut and now I am so inspired! While at the National Zoo we came across this beautiful mural. I think I was preoccupied with the perfect shirt, but Linda looked at it with the quilting eye and the idea for the perfect quilt was born! We are going to do a zoo mosaic quilt. I am so excited, this will be the first quilt that I actually design. It was great to see a great city in such a diffrent light.
I can't wait to go back!
